Work already done to the car
The project has been going for some years now and in those years quite a lot has been done to the car already.
On these pages I'd like to tell all about what has been done and how I did it.
To keep things simple I divided this section into the main parts of the car. When you click on these sections, you'll find pages where I tell how I went about the business of restoring the different parts that make up that section.
So if you'd like to read how I restored or modified parts to learn from it, or just for a little inspiration. Then head to the navigation bar on the left side of the page and click on the section you'd like to see.
As work on the car progresses, I'll try to keep these pages as up to date as possible.
The grunt of the work on this car has been to it's body and chassis. The E9 series Corolla's were very prone to rust and as this car is already 20 decades old, I had some work to do here.
And when it appeared to have seen some damage as well, more work had to be put into it.
So if you'd like to know what I've done to get the body back into shape again, have a look on the body pages of this website!
I had already completely refurbished and lightly tuned the original 4A-GE engine that was in the car when I bought it.
But plans changed half way through the project and the car is now destined to receive a 4A-GZE power plant. But this engine too will be stripped and rebuild as new. And I have some nice things planned for that engine as well. So if you'd like to read all about the work done to both engines: visit the engine pages.
The original C52 gearbox has been dismantled and rebuild too. It also received a Auto Torque Biasing LSD to improve handling and traction a bit.
But as the 4A-GZE has a stronger E58 gearbox mated to it, so the C52 will not return to the car as well.
The new gearbox will also be dismantled and rebuuld with new parts. This can all be read on the gearbox pages.
To improve the handling of the car a bit, the suspension will have to be dealt with. Different springs, shock absorbers, swaybars, etc. You can read all about it on the suspension pages.
More power in a car is always nice. But you want to be able to bring the car to a stop too. So the brakes have been replaced with different, refurbished ones.
See how I went about this? Read it on the brakes pages.
The interior need a lot of work too. Not only was it old and tatty, but I also made quite a lot of modifications to the interior to get it to my liking.
I completely altered the dashboard and placed a Japanese digital instrument cluster. The interior will be completely reupholstered and additional luxury will be added.
How I have done all of this can be seen and read on the interior pages.
There are parts that just can't be caught in one of the sections above. The gas tank for instance. Is it an engine part or is it part of the body? Just to make it simple: Parts that can't be found in the other sections can be found here.
